Passport Systems mission is to develop technologies and deploy products which address the threats facing the world after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.
There is a critical need to install new inspection systems at airports, seaports, transportation centers and national borders to meet the growing threat of terrorist attacks. Security officials must respond to new mandates that cargo be screened for explosives, nuclear materials and weapons of mass destruction. Customs inspectors enforcing trade and tariff agreements need faster and more complete identification of the contents of containers. The detection and screening technologies offered by Passport are capable of detecting these threats with the speed and accuracy required by these mandates without slowing the flow of commerce.
Passport Systems was founded to meet these requirements. Its non-intrusive technologies are powered by a versatile electron accelerator and advanced material identification technology. Passport technologies analyze and exactly identify the isotopic composition of cargo while producing 2D and 3D maps of the contents of any container. They are capable of rapidly detecting commercial contraband as well as fissile materials, shielding, and high-energy explosives. By accurately identifying all the other materials in a shipment, including commercial contraband such as illegal drugs or commercial products subject to tariffs or consumer safety concerns, Passport technologies can also be used for customs inspection, supply-chain quality assurance and forensics applications.
Designed to deliver dramatic performance improvement along with a reduction in overall cost of ownership, these technologies will increase productivity through more accurate identification and higher throughput than current screening systems.
