Department of Homeland Security Awards Passport Systems, Inc.
$4 Million Contract For Shielded Nuclear Alarm Resolution Program
Billerica, Mass. — Oct.8, 2008 -
Passport Systems, Inc. has been awarded a $4 million contract to
develop prototype modules based on its Prompt Neutrons from
Photo-fission and Nuclear Resonance Fluorescence technologies for the
U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Domestic Nuclear Detection
Office’s Advanced Technology Demonstration (ATD) for Shielded Nuclear
Alarm Resolution (SNAR) Program. The purpose of these modules is to
detect the presence of concealed nuclear weapons and nuclear materials.
This contract consists of a critical design
effort which may be followed by two optional phases to be exercised at
the Government’s discretion. If both options are exercised by the
Government, the contract value has the potential to increase to $8.9
million.

Passport Systems is developing next generation scanner
solutions to be deployed at air and sea ports, border crossings and
other key points in the global supply chain to non-intrusively and
accurately inspect cargo without impeding the flow of commerce.
