Passport Systems to Demonstrate SmartShield™ Technology at CBRNe Convergence Conference

    Tue, 27 Oct 2015 12:26:00

North Billerica, MA - October 27, 2015 --- Passport Systems Inc. will provide demonstrations of the SmartShield™ technology they have developed at the CBRNe Convergence Conference in Orlando, Florida.  The CRBNe Convergence Conference will take place from October 27-October 30. Users at the conference will automatically be able to map “hot spots” in a simulated nuclear event scenario using Passport Systems’ SmartShield™ DHS Sponsored Technology.

“Because dirty bombs would likely be shielded to evade detection, detection systems must be sensitive enough to detect subtle radiological changes. They must be capable of precisely identifying and geolocating the source, and they must instantaneously communicate this information to all the people in place to initiate action—with no lag. These are the requirements that drove the development of SmartShield, a detect-to-prevent radiation detection system,” said Dr. Robert Ledoux, President, CEO and Director of Passport Systems, Inc. “We look forward to demonstrating this technology that allows users to move from a reactive stance to a proactive stance during our participation at the CBRNe Convergence Conference.”

Founded by a group of MIT technologists and entrepreneurs, the company has developed two families of products based on these state-of-the-art technologies: The SmartScan 3D™ inspection system and the SmartShield™ networked radiation detection system. To date more than $75 million of government program funding and private equity has been invested in the development of these two advanced technology product lines.

About Passport Systems: Passport Systems was founded to develop and commercialize new technologies to address the threats facing the world in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Started by a team of MIT technologists and entrepreneurs, the company has developed two families of products: The SmartScan 3D™ Automated Cargo Inspection System, based on nuclear resonance fluorescence technology (“NRF”), and the SmartShield™ Radiation Detection System.  For further details on the Company and its products and services, please visit www.passportsystems.com.
